Quick Business Advice: Ken Blanchard on Feedback

Feedback is the breakfast of champions.

– Ken Blanchard

Most companies have some kind of feedback mechanism for executives.  Some do 360o reviews.  Others have surveys sent to their employees.  And others may seek one-on-one feedback.

But sometimes people fear repercussions to their giving honest feedback, worried that somehow it will come back to them.  However, without openness and freedom to express opinions, teams have no hope of ever getting beyond the “forming” stage.

The next stage in team development is “storming” and while that sounds like a problem, if conflict is explained, understood and managed effectively, it is a critical step in the process toward becoming a high-performance team.
